Can I enroll in two master’s degrees simultaneously?
What is the difference between the two master’s degree programs?
Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MS in AI) is designed for learners who want to go deep technically—to understand, build, and implement AI systems. It emphasizes core AI concepts, hands-on implementation, and technical mastery. Foundational programming skills and comfort with math/statistics are recommended for applicants.
The MBA is designed for learners who want to lead AI-powered products and business outcomes. It combines MBA fundamentals (strategy, leadership, analytics, and go-to-market) with product management and applied AI decision-making—so graduates can prioritize the right AI opportunities, manage tradeoffs, and drive execution across cross-functional teams.
Do the two degrees share courses?
The MBA includes select elective courses that are also part of the MS in AI, for example, Generative AI and Agentic AI.
The core curriculum of both degrees is unique. The programs differ materially. MS in AI goes deep into building AI systems; MBA focuses on product and business leadership, applying AI to decision-making and execution, and building AI products.
If I’m enrolled in both degrees, will the progress I make in one count towards the other for common courses?
In some cases, yes. If both degrees share a course, it may count toward both under certain conditions:
- Secondary Degree: For your second degree, overlapping courses are treated as prior learning, which has a specific credit limit.
- Transcripts: Once you graduate from your first degree, any overlapping courses will appear on your second degree’s transcript. They will look like regular courses but will include a note stating they were originally completed for your first degree, along with your graduation date from that program.
- Unique Credits: You will still need to complete the unique core coursework for each degree to meet the full 2,250 unique credit hour requirement.
I started the MS in AI, but now I want to move to the MBA. Is that possible?
If you have not completed the MS in AI and do not plan to continue it, and instead want to move to the MBA, please contact Udacity Support after enrolling in the MBA and request cancellation of your MS in AI enrollment. Your MS in AI record will be archived, and shared courses will appear on your MBA credentials.
